Daniel 11: 21-33 – Daniel’s glimpse of Antiochus IV

We saw in our last study it had taken the angel 3 weeks, to fight through demonic opposition to reach Daniel. We saw that a real supernatural battle is taking place in the spiritual realm. Things we don’t see directly, yet we see the effects of these battles in our earthly realm. Some might ask isn’t God all powerful? If He’s omnipotent, why doesn’t he just terminate the demonic opposition? One day He’ll do just that. But right now, even the demons are serving a purpose. As they oppose God, we learn to persist in prayer & the need to stand against evil. We can learn many lessons in the struggle preparing us for eternity. An elite athlete doesn’t just run onto the field on game day without having spent many tough years in training. So it is with us now, this is our time of testing & training, we’re toiling now for the King, preparing for eternity.

Daniel 11: 34-45 – Daniel’s glimpse of Antichrist

There are 135 specific prophecies given to Daniel – by the angel in this 11th chapter. In vv 5-34 the vision focuses on the Seleucid & Ptolemaic – Grecian dynasties, that constantly fought over the promised land. The land of Israel sat between their centres of power. Amongst many other prophecies in Daniel 11 I pointed out; Daniel predicted, the coming of 5 significant kings all with names – starting with A. Ahasuerus in verse 2 – aka Xerxes – the 4th Persian ruler. Alexander the Great – in verse 3. Antiochus (III) – the great – in verse 10 In our last study we focused on a vile king – self titled – Antiochus (IV) Epiphanes. & this week we’ll start from verse 34 & concentrate on Daniel’s 5th & final notable “A” ruler, of the times of the Gentiles – Antichrist.

Daniel 11: 5-21 – Prophecy proves the existence of God

In this detail focused section of Daniel, we have prophecy after accurate prophecy given by God through Daniel. And the history plays out perfectly in line with the prophecy given. So much so that secular historians are forced to say that Daniel wasn’t written till the 1st century BC. How could he possibly know the history of the world in such detail before it occurred. He knew because an all knowing God revealed it to him.

Daniel 11: 22-45 – Antiochus prefigures the coming Antichrist

The incredible God proving prophecies continue to flow in this section of Scripture. In this study we start off looking in surprising detail at a minor ruler of a minor province of the fading Grecian Empire (Antiochus IV). It turns out why the Holy Spirit focuses on him, is that he prefigures the coming Antichrist. At the midpoint of examining Antiochus, we warp through space and time, to the time of, the final ruler, of the final form, of the final kingdom, of the times of the Gentiles. And we are given an extended and unique view of the coming Antichrist.
