Daniel 8:1-12

I preached this sermon at the Greek Free Church in Kingsgrove in June 2025.

Daniel 8: 1-12 – we see Daniel’s 2nd vision, of the Ram & He-Goat, depicting the coming Medo-Persian & Greek empires. He predicts the coming of Alexander the great, the division of his empire into 4 after his untimely death. & the rise of another little horn, distinct from the little horn of Daniel 7. This chapter 8 little horn is from the 3rd Grecian Empire. He is a prototype of the coming Antichrist, his name was Antiochus Epiphanies.

Daniel 8:13-27 (the Ram, the Goat & the Antichrist)

Daniel 8:1-12

This is Daniel’s second vision. He sees the coming of the next great gentile kingdom (Medo-Persia) about 12 years before they rise to world power. They are pictured as a Ram with 2 powerful horns. In this dream the Ram is unstoppable, until it confronts a He-goat from the east with 1 horn. This goat from the east predicts the coming Grecian empire, led by Alexander, the single mighty horn.

Daniel 8:13-27

Comparing Antichrist with Antiochus. In this passage we have the forerunner of the Antichrist presented to us (Antiochus Epiphanies). If we want to know what Antichrist will be like, we need to study the life and activities of Antiochus.
