James 4

In James 4 we learn we have not because we ask amiss. We ask with hidden motives of selfish personal benefit. Even Christian gatherings can be filled with waring, & hatred, & jealously, & lusting. To be a friend of the world, makes you an enemy of God. James gave the crucial directive: “submit to God. Resist the devil & he will flee from you.” Next we hear James’ beautiful words: “Draw near to God & He will draw near to you.” We received instruction to: “Humble ourselves in the sight of the Lord & He will lift you up.” We’re not to live in a spirit of judgmentalism, pointing fingers at others. Living like this – makes us law breakers. Our life is a vapor, appearing for a little time then vanishing away. How foolish is the person who makes plans in this life, without placing God at the centre of those plans. If you know what the Godly choice is & you pick the carnal choice, this is sin.
