Jude 1:1-7

We come now to the 2nd last book of the Bible. The 1-chapter book of Jude, which we’ll investigate over 3 sessions. The content of Jude is very similar to 2 Peter 2. It seems somewhat evident that one of these writers influenced the other. I lean towards 2 Peter 2 being written before this letter of Jude. Interestingly, most scholars believe Jude wrote before 2 Peter. Most scholars also say Mark was the first gospel writer. Whereas – I say the 4 gospels were written in the order we find them in our modern Bibles. This short epistle certainly covers some fascinating topics. Our calling, our sanctification, our preservation. Contending for the faith against enemies. He speaks of angels not keeping their proper domain, the strange flesh of Sodom & Gomorrah, & the suffering of eternal damnation. Jude will tell us about an argument between an Archangel & Satan over the body of Moses. He’ll also speak of flesh defiling dreamers. He’ll speak 3 woes on those who follow the way of Cain, the error of Balaam, & the rebellion of Korah. Spots in your love feasts, clouds without water, trees without fruit, raging waves of the sea, wandering stars. Prophecies of Enoch, last days ungodly lusting mockers. Hating garments defiled by the flesh. Jude covers all this & more in 25 inspired verses whilst also majoring in giving glory & praise to God.
