Philippians 3

In Philippians 3 Paul gives Christians a triple “beware” (warning) against gospel compromisers. Beware of those who add fleshy human works to Jesus completed saving work on the cross. Paul instructs us, circumcision that matters is the circumcision of the heart, not of the flesh. Believers in Christ, are truly circumcised. Paul next presents his impeccable Hebrew curriculum vitae. Then promptly bins his perfect CV in favour of Christ. Paul was willing to lose everything in order to gain Christ. Only true righteousness that comes in Christ (not through the law), is acceptable before God.

Paul commends us to forget all else, to reach forward as a sprinter crossing the finish line. Press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Note the Godly examples (like Paul), follow the pattern & example they lay down. Mark the enemies of the cross, whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, whose glory is in their shame, who set their mind on earthly things, & stay clear of them.

Remember that we in Christ, are citizens of heaven, not earth dwellers. Therefore we should walk & work as saints, anticipating the day of our ascension & glorious transformation.
