Exodus foreshadows Revelation

Intro – Moses prefigures Christ

Exodus 1 – Is it ever OK to lie?

Exodus is book 2, of Moses 5 books of the Law. Moses lived circa 1585-1465BC. We don’t know the year this book was written, perhaps Moses kept journals in his first 80 years. He wrote this book 2 after the Exodus, probably soon after the giving of the Law. We get this “Exodus” title from the Greek translation – describing the main event of the narrative. The exit, the way out, the departure of Israel from Egypt. After the creation & flood recorded in Moses book 1 – Genesis. The Exodus – is the next most significant historical & theological event of the Old Test. God told Abraham in Genesis 15: “Know certainly, that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them & they will afflict them 400 hundred years. Exodus is the detailed record of the fulfillment of this God given prophecy – to Abraham. Israel were in Egypt 430 years, 400 years mistreated as slaves. The 1st 30 years they were treated as honoured guests of governor Joseph.
