3 John

3 John, is a very short personal letter from John the Apostle – to Gaius. It’s the shortest book of the Bible. Only 219 words in the original Greek language. We don’t know when it was written, but the most likely date is in the early 90’s AD when John was an old man. In 2 John – he condemns heresy as departure from the love of the truth. In 3 John – he condemns divisions & contentions among the people of God. Gaius & Demetrius are presented as godly models – living in Christ. Diotrephes is presented as the ungodly. His boasting, slandering, & oppressive bullying not to be emulated.
